The Verdon Gorge, the largest canyon in Europe, stretches between the towns of Castellane and Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, offering breathtaking and unique views. These gorges are the result of the fantastic erosive work of the Verdon River on the limestone plateaus of Provence. Their exceptional depth (up to 700 meters!) and geographical location at the meeting point of Alpine and Mediterranean climates have fostered an extraordinary richness of flora and fauna. The Verdon River originates at an altitude of 2819 meters at the Allos Pass and stretches for 175 km before flowing into the Durance. The cliffs reach heights of 250 to 700 meters, with widths varying from 6 to 100 meters at the base and from 200 to 1500 meters at the top of the gorge, creating a grand natural spectacle.
